This so bums me out... Reed and I had our roots in NJ, where our dads worked for Bell Laboratories. Our families were transferred to Illinois in 1967.  We had great visits at the 50th reunion on the nature walk on Friday and at the dinner on Saturday. So grateful for the wonderful conversation and friendship. I know he had dear friends in our class, and my heartfelt condolences to all of you.

Brilliant guy, who was passionate about his work and making the world a better place.  At the 50th luncheon, we had our usual discussion about the state of the world, and his work.  So very sad

Like many others, I was privileged to have several conversations with Reed at this year's reunion.
I have always been impressed with his intellect, but more impressed with his compassion to right the wrongs and serve our underserved, for as long as I can remember.
This is a sad day.

I couldn't make it to the reunion, so I'm glad to read the comments. He was such a great talker. The infrequent times we got together, living as we did so far apart, was always a joy. I loved listening to him. Lots and lots of memories of hanging out in high school. Back then even he was a dynamic personality. First memory off the top of my head: He and Craig and John Loesch formed a band called "We're Only in It for the Money," and maybe they knew just a few songs, and didn't last too long, but they rocked. We had a blast in Door County one time, though I can't remember how they got that gig. I have to mention that photo of the two of us in the yearbook. I've always loved that caption, something like, Jay and Reed on the steps of their capitol. Who wrote that? Anyway, he was the one who could bring people together. He was the one who got along with school administrators. He was the one who knew people at "Rising up Angry." His work as an adult was incredibly impressive. He lived a full life, I would say, and left many legacies.

Link to Reed's obituary.  Too much to say, can't do it right now.

I am just sick about this . Reed's values inspired me and still do.  He was always kind to me and I suspect to all of us.  I am just sick.  Such a loss for our world.
