We didn't "run in the same circles" except for cross country. We were co-captains our senior year. He was a jokester and kept everybody loose. Sorry he's gone so soon.

I always remember Bill on his birthday, May 11. We were besties all through elementary school: Main Street School. He lived a block away from me, his mom was best friends with mine, and we played together all the time. We played football (two on two with my brother and John Grossnickle or Bob Benedict) and baseball constantly on the Main St. School playground--in the mud, in the snow, we didn't care. When my family moved to Boulder in 1967, we tried to keep in touch, but even when we came back in 1968 our friendship had changed. We didn't hang in high school, but I remember Pat Brady's photo of him in the yearbook; he had just finished a race and looked exhausted, like he had just given everything he had. He ended up in a trailer in a place like Palmdale outside of LA, and I remember his mom told me he died alone with his dog. RIP, Billy Andrews. You helped make life in Glen Ellyn in the sixties a happy time.
