I met Kathy in 7th grade, the same year my dad died. Kathy was a great friend from the first day I met her. We lived only a block away from each other but Park Blvd. was the dividing line between our elementary schools. We walked to high school together, and would stop and pick up Barb Cole on our way. Kathy and I worked at the Wheaton Animal Hospital together. I thoroughly enjoyed traveling to New Jersey to visit her grandmother and spend a few days on the Jersey shore, where I got burnt to a crisp, and also had Kathy rescue me from the strong undertow. Kathy was a great swimmer, I always enjoyed watching her compete in the Butterfly. Kathy's mom and my mom became good friends and did some traveling together. Kathy and I were so excited when she received her acceptance to Kansas State University in Manhattan KS, and I was accepted to Kansas University in Lawrence KS, only 50 miles about. But then I received my acceptance to the University of Colorado and headed to Boulder. Kathy met the love of her life in Kansas and I met the love of my life in Colorado. Kathy was in my wedding in 1976 and I attended her wedding in Kansas in 1978. When Kathy and her husband Sam moved to Ft. Collins CO in 1979 I told Kathy it just took her a few extra years to realize how great Colorado is! In 1990 my career took my family to Madison WI for 28 years. Thom and I retired back in Colorado in 2018. I will always regret that Kathy and I didn't reconnect when I returned to Colorado, both of us busy traveling and spending time with our grandchildren. Kathy will be missed by family, and past and present friends. I was hoping Kathy and I would be at our 50th reunion together in September....

I met Kathy in junior high.  We spent many weekends hanging out together.  I remember her as a gatherer of people, always welcoming new people into her circle.  Kathy got me my first job at the Wheaton Animal hospital, working along side with Mary Neu.  I have fond memories of working there, especially on the weekends before opening hours. One Saturday, the guys were playing a Cheech and Chong over the loud speaker and in walked the head veterinarian, just as the f bomb was launched over the speaker. The three of us girls made ourselves very busy far away from the doc.  Kathy was an important person in my life during junior high and high school.  I am so sorry she has left this earth early.
