Guy was my true friend and unfortunately, another cruel victim of Lewy Body Dementia. I have talked to Guy several times recently, and his courage and mental preparedness for dealing with this disease was commendable, and inspiring. I suppose much of his resilience stemmed from losing his Dad at a young age and then bravely and successfully navigating that obstacle. We worked at Brandywine as painters during college summers and I played high school baseball with Guy, a terrific hitter. He had the best laugh. We got together when we both were living in England. He became a great speaker, minister, and marriage counselor. All my love and respect to Guy.
So sorry to hear this. Guy was a childhood friend and I remember playing many games of softball, tag, and even Snow White when we were kids. Thanks, Mark, for the info about his disease - so sad! But it sounds like he was certainly a trooper! RIP, dear friend!
Thanks for the update Bro. I ran into Guy about 8 or 9 years ago at the volunteer garden building event It was truly a synchronicity thing. Two Glen Ellynites in a group of about 10 people from our area building a raised garden bed. He was a good man of God. God Bless Guy and his family.
Way back when, Guy and I ran into each other in GE and I chose him to be the vidiographer for my wedding. Who could predict that! Right, Diane? During Glenbard years, I remember him as always smiling and the happiest guy I'd see in the hallowed halls of ivy.
I grew up with Guy and John Burke. We lived in the same neighborhood. Those 2 guys were the brothers I never had. I was talking to Guy about once a month and it was hard as each month he was alittle worse when I'd call. The last couple months Loretta would have to be with him to help finish his thoughts. It was tough cause I loved that guy. He was one of the most loving and caring human beings I ever knew. He was always positive no matter how bad things were. I will miss him greatly.
